DHAKA: The ministry for religious affairs summoned some 29 hajj agencies in hearing on charge of several irregularities in hajj management this year.
The ministry said in two separate notices issued recently that two hearings will be held upon the charges.
Two committees were also formed to administrate the arguments.
Respective authorities of the following agencies have been directed to appear at the meeting room of Islamic Foundation Tuesday (November 28).
They are—Air Bangla International Ltd, Ms Al Safa Air Travels, Al Amanat Travels—from Chittagong, Akbar Travels International, Gulf Travels & Tours, Al Haramain Travels, Tanvir Travels, Air Land International Ltd, The City Travels, Future Associates, Himalaya Express—from Dhaka, and Saimon Overseas Express of Sylhet and Akbar Travels from Rajshahi.
Another hearing will be held at the meeting room of the ministry Thursday (November 30), administrated by the committee-2, where the owners of as many as 16 agencies have been asked to appear.
They are—Sanjid Air International, Fair Lines Travels, Khwaja Air Travels, Hazari Hajj Tours & Travels, Carnival Tours & Travels, Bushra Travels & Tours, Al-Raiyan Air International, Green International Travels, Hejaz Tours & Travels, Ziyarat-e-Kaba Tours & Travels, Masum Air Travels, Mco Travels & Tours, Namira Tours & Travel, Nowshad Travels & Tours, Royal Taiyyeba Aviation—from Dhaka and Kazi Travels & Tours from Feni.
However, several hajj agencies were punished over mess while handling the hajj plight process, on different occasions in preceding times.
If the charges proved weightier, the agencies may face license cancellation including fine.
